After you've left our Brooklyn dentist office with clean, healthy teeth, you'll want to employ a home care regimen that will maintain that healthy smile! Our dentists in Brooklyn recommend a number of easy ways to keep your mouth healthy at home!

  • Don't Forget to Floss: Flossing removes plaque from between your teeth, and is important in preventing gum disease. Floss reaches areas that a toothbrush alone can't reach, so choose floss in any flavor you like and floss every day!
  • Proper Flossing Technique: Cut a piece of floss about 18 inches long and wrap one end around the middle finger of each hand. Work the floss gently between the teeth toward the gum line and curve the floss in a U-shape around each tooth. Move the floss up and down several times to remove plaque and debris, but don't pop the floss in and out between teeth because this will inflame and cut your gums!
  • The Right Toothbrush: Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day, ideally before going to bed and when you wake up. Your toothbrush head should be small enough to fit in all areas of your mouth, and the bristles should be soft enough not to damage your gums.
  • Proper Brushing Technique: Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle where the teeth and gums meet. Use small, circular motions to gently brush the gum line and teeth, touching every surface of each tooth as well as the sides of your cheeks, tongue and chewing surfaces. Don't brush too hard, as that will cause damage!

We offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry procedures to keep your smile at its healthiest and brightest! our Brooklyn dentists to schedule your appointment today!
